Learn how to choose the right WonderPana filter holder for your ultra wide angle lens, with decision rules for Sigma 12-24mm and Rokinon 14mm compatibility.
Quick answer
The WonderPana filter holder lets you mount 145mm filters on ultra wide lenses that lack standard filter threads. Your lens model determines which holder version fits.
Why ultra wide lenses need a dedicated holder
Ultra wide angle lenses like the Sigma 12-24mm and Rokinon 14mm have bulbous front elements that prevent using screw-on filters. A dedicated filter holder replaces the lens hood and provides a secure mounting point for square or round filters. This setup is essential for landscape and architectural photographers who need graduated ND or polarizing filters on these extreme wide-angle optics.
Compatibility is lens-specific
Each WonderPana holder is machined to fit one specific lens model. The Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG and the Rokinon/Samyang 14mm f/2.8 require different adapters because their lens barrels and hood attachment areas are shaped differently. Using the wrong holder can block the field of view or fail to attach securely.
How to choose the right WonderPana holder
- Check your lens model: Identify whether you own the Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG IF HSM or the Rokinon/Samyang 14mm f/2.8. Each has a dedicated holder version.
- Consider filter size: Both holders accept 145mm filters. If you already own 145mm square filters, either holder works with the same filter set. You can reuse filters across compatible lenses if you own multiple holders.
- Evaluate optional kits: Both holders offer optional filter kits. Decide if you need a polarizer or graduated ND kit now, or if starting with the core holder and buying filters separately suits your budget better.

Who should buy which
Best for
- Photographers with a Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG who want to use 145mm filters without vignetting

Not for
- Lenses with standard front filter threads (a screw-on adapter or step-up ring is simpler and cheaper)
